I was driving along Picton Road on my way back from uni and it has been pouring down with rain over the past few days so the roads were very slippery and it happened to be quite foggy as well, I decided it wasn’t safe to do the speed limit and so I was going about 30km/s under the limit. A car tails from a safe distance and then decides to overtake me at the last minute before the overtaking lane ends, he manages to pass me, though admitedly he left it pretty short in those conditions. There is a bend infront of us just after the lane ends and all of a sudden as we started turning we hit a massive section of fog and I couldn’t really see much it resulted in me applying the brakes and I’m not sure if the car infront of me did as well or what happened to be honest but next thing I knew was that the car had started to spin abruptly its light struck mine and for a moment I thought I was going to slide right into them luckily they spun again off onto the other side of the road and (again) luckily missed an oncoming truck. They ended up slideing over some pretty big rocks and stopped just before they went through a fence and hit bushes. I pulled up to the side of the road but couldn’t really see where there car ended up through the bushes that they slid near, cars and trucks passed by and I darted across the road once it looked safe.

There was an (English) man driving the car and a woman who sounded Australian was a passenger, they both hoped out of the car and couldn’t believe what had happened, they must have been in shock and who could really blame them! The man who was behind my car pulled over to see if they were okay as well, we were all freaked out and absolutely drenched by this point, we made sure they were okay and that their car was okay and then I headed off.

We shall all be counting our lucky stars tonight, if things were slightly different the 3 of would probably be seriously hurt if not dead and possibily even the guy behind us! It was pretty scary and I don’t really want to drive at the moment, I couldn’t believe how easily it could happen.
