Easter Long Weekend

April 13th, 2009 Jacob Plantzos No comments

easterWell first of all I’ll start by wishing a Happy Easter to everyone! I hope no one is feeling terribily sick from all their chocolate (thank god I don’t eat the stuff!).

Okay now for the weekend… it was a long weekend and so Ben and I decided it would be nice to go out into Sydney for the day, we made no plans at all as to what to do but we thought it would be good to get out of the house for a bit and also we hadn’t been in Sydney for a while. We decided to go to Centrepoint Tower as I had never been to the top and Ben hadn’t since he was about eight, we checked the prices and decided to grab lunch before we went up.

We ended up at The Rocks and found a pretty awesome Bavarian restaurant/bar called Löwenbräu Keller (Don’t ask me how its pronounced!). It was the first time I had been to a Bavarian restaurant and it was pretty nice and had a laid back atmosphere. After scouring the menu for the cheapest meal (I’m a uni student remember) we finished up and headed back towards Centrepoint Tower, though reminicing of times in Europe I decided to be tourist like and get a few iconic photos, after all I’d never got a picture with the Harbour Bridge or the Opera House (I’d actually never really been up close to the Opera House at all to be honest, except when i’ve passed it on the ferry).

Sydney Opera House View

Once we were in the observation deck of Centrepoint Tower we had a panoramic view of the city which was quite nice, it is a pity thought that you can’t exactly see the Harbour Bridge or the Opera House very well as the lower level sky scrapers block your view. After taking a million photos, spying on people in their rich apartments through the telescopes and randomly finding the Canadian flag (yes I do believe we are getting invaded, but I don’t mind lol) we then went to a… well I spose you would call it a ride, called Oz-Trek it was part of the deal with the Centrelink Tower observation deck admission. It wasn’t too bad actually you hop on these seats and a bar pulls down like it does on a rollercoaster and there is a screen infront of you, and on either side of you. The chair moves which makes you feel like you’re actually there whilst you see many parts of Australia.

After that we went to the Apple Store, Ben showed me some stuff which I thought was pretty cool and then loaded Facebook on one of the computers there. An Italian guy had forgotten to sign out and so we wrote a status update for him saying “I forgot to log out of Facebook at the Apple Store”, I then loaded Facebook on the computer next to me and someone had forgotten to sign out of that too! I read a status update and it turns out the two people are friends and I see the status update that we just made on the other account hehe, so I make one for this guy as well saying “I also forgot to log out of Facebook at the Apple Store hehe.

On the way to the train station I finally found a Starbucks cafe… 3 of them infact, right next to each other basically. I decided it was about time I had a caramel macchiato again and I made the right choice starbucks is so much better then Gloria Jeans!
